Americas Best Value Inn Suites Slidell

We opened the door to find cigarette butts on the floor inside. The entrance door wasn’t even shut to begin with, and it wouldn’t lock. The door connecting to the next room was broken and wouldn’t close either. Just a horrible place, and I’d never recommend it.

After a 24-hour drive down from NY, we were told the hotel couldn’t find our reservation. I spent two hours on hold with Hopper while we waited in the car, and eventually we got a room, but it was filthy and smelled awful. The odor wouldn’t come out, so we had to clean the floors, counters, and bathroom ourselves just to make it somewhat livable for the weekend. At 11:30, while we were still packing, they kept our deposit and staff went back and forth with us about it. Regulars were also asking us for free things out of the back of our car. Definitely don’t recommend coming back.

The door handle wouldn’t open from inside, so I had to call the front desk just to get out. I left within ten minutes. There were dirty diapers and other stuff outside the rooms, dogs barking indoors, and the bed was filthy, with holes and burn marks in the linen. The door between my room and the adjoining room had been kicked in and left unsecured, so someone in the other room could enter. I spent 27 years in the Army and slept in some sketchy places, but this place scared me. Absolutely the worst place I’ve ever tried to stay in.

The manager is a huge red flag. We’d paid, including an early check-in fee, when he burst into our room saying nobody should be in there right now. The room was filthy, so I cleaned it myself, and the bedsheets already on the bed had stains. You’re better off staying somewhere else.
