Americas Best Value Inn Smackover

We were in town for a family reunion and had no choice about where to stay. The floors were never vacuumed, and the bed was only partly made, so I doubt the sheets had been changed. I was also told the bathrooms don’t get cleaned until checkout. There were stains on the towels, pillows, and blankets. I left the bedspread off so housekeeping would notice the stained blanket underneath, but it was still there when we returned. The desk clerk reluctantly exchanged it, but the replacement had a cigarette burn and a big hole. I took that one back too and ended up going without. A very disappointing stay.

The hallway reeked of marijuana, and the washer and dryer needed servicing. There was organic growth in the bathroom, and the carpet throughout needed cleaning, stretching, or replacement. Towels, blankets, and curtains had holes in them. I had no choice but to stay, and there was no refund policy. I trusted the reviews and was badly disappointed. The staff were friendly enough, but that’s the only positive I can think of.

I was staying in room 126 in Smackover, AR for work, and there was mold on just about every surface. Bugs showed up more than once, too. After mold started growing on my luggage, I brought it up, but they denied a refund and I couldn’t reach the owner. I wouldn’t return.

The front desk called the police while I was trying to sort out my payment, and the story about why they were called kept changing. Michelle said it was because I was lingering in the parking lot. Marie said I’d gone to several doors and made Michelle nervous. The officer also told me it was about lingering. Later, the owner blamed the debit card I first tried to use, even though my partner didn’t have his ID and I’d explained I needed to find my own card. At the desk the next morning, the other staff took Michelle’s side instead of reviewing the cameras or hearing me out. Nobody apologized. I pulled in at 11:47, found my card at 11:53, and have a receipt showing it was swiped at 11:57. I’d already returned with the right ID and card and completed the reservation, but the police still questioned me. It was embarrassing and wasted both my time and the officers’. I’ll contact someone higher up, and I’ll update this if they make it right. Very upsetting. I’d stay somewhere else.
