Hampton Inn Suites Smithfield

When I checked my account in the morning, $207 was gone. I had walked in the night before without a reservation, and the desk clerk said my card had declined on both computers, so I left. The camera footage and timestamps show I was there while they told me that. The clerk was rude and didn't ask my name until I asked for her manager. She now says I was a no-show. I'm a single parent, and $207 is a lot of money I worked for. At 8:33 p.m. I texted my friend that somehow my card had declined.

The staff were nice and breakfast was good, and the hotel itself was nice. There's not much to do, especially since the pool heater wasn't there and the water was freezing. It would've been handy to pay cash for some things, but that's only a small downside. Two lamps in our room wouldn't turn on. Otherwise, it was fine.

It looked like an ordinary Hampton Inn at first, but opening the room door changed that impression fast. The cigarette smoke and smell were so bad I expected to find the Marlboro Man smoking in the corner. We checked four rooms before finding ones we could just about bear to stay in for a couple of nights. This place needs refurbishing badly. I won't return.

OMG, this was absolutely the best. The hotel chain delivered the quality and hospitality I've come to expect, and it didn't disappoint.
