La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Snellville-Stone Mountain

It took more than an hour to find my reservation, even though Booking.com had confirmed it was valid, prepaid, and didn't need changes. Before arriving, I'd called the hotel to ask about switching to a closer location, but they said that wasn't possible because I'd booked through Booking.com. I drove over an hour based on the confirmation. I'd already done mobile pre-check-in and added a card for incidentals, as instructed, and was told I only needed to pick up my keys. Instead, the front desk agent asked for my physical card and repeatedly said the payment wasn't going through, despite the reservation being prepaid. A housekeeping employee came into the front desk area and kept interrupting, not letting the agent do her job. She didn't identify herself. I can only describe her by her visible tattoos. Her involvement made things more confusing and escalated the situation. She made inappropriate, irrelevant comments to my travel companion, a veteran, including suggesting his card might have been declined because he didn't have enough credit. Once the reservation was finally found and the room's prepayment confirmed, she made unsolicited personal comments about her family and background, apparently to justify her behavior. They had nothing to do with the issue and felt unprofessional. Throughout the encounter she was hostile, waved her finger in my fiancé's face, and acted confrontational. The next day I tried to speak to management. I was told several times that the hotel “did not have a manager.” When I eventually talked with Madison, the manager, the same front desk employee interrupted by slamming a door loudly. It seemed like nobody was taking the situation seriously. Afterward, housekeeping interactions felt uncomfortable, with laughing and behavior that came across as dismissive. I also had trouble with the hot water. What should have been a straightforward check-in became a stressful hour-long ordeal because staff didn't understand the reservation system and there weren't clear boundaries between their roles. The stay was poorly managed and unprofessional from beginning to end. Given the lack of staff training, inappropriate conduct, and lack of accountability, I wouldn't recommend this property.

The staff were pleasant, the rooms clean, and the beds comfortable. It's in a nice part of town, and the shower had good water pressure. Some upkeep is needed: the lampshade was chipped, and paint had come off in places in the bathroom. Breakfast could use healthier choices. Still, it was a good stay.

The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and our room was clean. There was hair on the toilet, and one towel looked like it had makeup on it, but we had a great experience overall.

We enjoyed bringing in the new yr in style! The staff were kind and helpful, the room matched the pictures, and the indoor pool was warm and working. We were close to everything and had a great time.
