Snowmass Inn

You’re probably coming to ski, and the slopes are just around the corner. There’s a hot tub and plenty of restaurants nearby too. The decor is plain, and this isn’t a high-end Aspen lodge, but the ski-in, ski-out access comes at a bargain price. If you’re looking for a place to watch TV and lounge around, this may not be for you. I almost hate to share the secret, but they deserve some decent feedback.

The staff and room maids were very nice, and this is an inexpensive lodge just 25 yards from the ski area. Sleep was another matter. In room 237, the water pipes next to the boiler room bang every 20-30 minutes all night, so good luck getting any rest. The front desk phone doesn’t work, which means you can’t get a wake-up call. The room needs updating, or the place needs to be rebuilt or demolished.

There was hot water, and the heaters worked. Our room was nice and looked after, though there weren’t many plugs. Front desk and housekeeping staff were very kind, and they had board games up front. The game room was fun, except a few pool balls were missing. We found some tasty breakfast spots at the outdoor mall next door. I didn’t try the hotel’s continental breakfast because I didn’t know about it, and I’m not even sure they have one. The stay was satisfactory.

You can walk to a nice little shopping area with several restaurants in about two minutes. Whether this place works for you depends on what you’re after. If you’re a ski bum who wants to party and have a good time, it may be fine. We were kept awake all night by partying neighbors, who woke us every two hours. The walls and floors are so thin, squeaky, and creaky that you get no rest. It’s a really old hotel, so these issues are to be expected. You’ll either scoff at this review or be glad for the warning.
