Two weeks later, I found the full room and parking charges on my card, plus another fee nobody can explain. I still haven’t been able to reach a manager or anyone competent to help. If zero stars were an option, I’d give it. At check-in time, 4 p.m., our room wasn’t ready. I waited nearly an hour in the lobby without an update. When I went back to the desk, they said they hadn’t heard from housekeeping and didn’t know when it would be ready. A few minutes later they offered an available suite as an “upgrade.” I carried my bags up to the third floor, only to find trash, food, and unmade bedding inside. It was clearly already occupied. I was done trying to sort it out and asked for a full refund so I could stay somewhere else. The front desk agreed and asked the manager to approve it. I got a receipt showing full credit, thanked them, and left, so the later charges were a shock.

We were too exhausted to keep driving, so we stuck it out and just hope we didn’t bring anything gross home. It was hot, there’s no air conditioning, and the Clorox smell was overwhelming. With the screen door torn and its lock broken, opening it wasn’t a comfortable option. The front desk clerk was very nice and upgraded us at check-in, but the suite was filthy and the furniture was all torn. There were sticky drops of who knows what on the bed, something that looked like blood on the bathroom doorframe, and the heater was torn off the wall. The place was covered in stains and damage. I can’t believe they rent that room. The building seemed much the same elsewhere, and some rooms apparently have broken windows. Maybe it was nice decades ago, but now it’s pitifully run down.

Getting fresh towels meant going next door each day, since our room wasn’t cleaned at all during our four-night stay. The walkways also need serious repairs. They felt so unsafe I thought you could fall through at any moment. The only good things were the location and our balcony, where we could open the door for some air. The other rooms’ windows barely opened, and I can’t imagine how warm those rooms got. I’m used to budget-friendly hotels and know they can be dated, but this was something else. There was never anyone at the front desk, so we had to visit the sister property down the hall for help. The top bunk had no sheets or comforter, several things in the room were damaged, including the end table, heater, and light fixture, and there were no window screens. The bathroom smelled moldy. I tried calling and emailing the property and never heard back. It felt abandoned.

All our questions about the property, and eventually getting help from maintenance, went through the desk at the Marriott next door. That property used to be the Westin and is now called the Viewline, and there’s some odd association between the two. We paid over $1,000 for three nights at Wildwood during X Games. The room still wasn’t available by the 4 p.m. check-in time, and we’d watched the three groups ahead of us get turned away because their rooms weren’t ready. Once we finally got in, it took about ten minutes to notice the problems. The window was broken and wouldn’t stay closed, the door hook fell off when I hung up a jacket, and the shower handle was lying beside the tub with its screw next to it. We’d also passed a missing storage room door and discarded artwork on the way in, which might have been a warning. Stay far, far away!

We were lucky to have booked just one night while visiting from the Front Range for hiking and exploring. The place is dirty and old, with stained furniture and no fridge. In August there was no A/C. The front desk suggested opening the door to the balcony, but there wasn’t one, just an open walkway in front of the rooms and a window without a screen beside the door. There was no way to get cross-ventilation, and who wants to sleep with a door or window open to everyone? They advertise it as a resort, but all we saw was a pool, hot tubs in the pool area, and a pool table in the lobby. Calling that a resort is a stretch, especially with a $30 resort fee. I’m pretty tolerant of imperfections, but there’s too much wrong here to list. Don’t make our mistake, I hope this helps someone.
