Being able to step outside and ski right away was the best part of our stay. The rooms, though, were in rough shape and the cleaning after checkout seemed really poor. We weren't there to spend much time indoors, but it was still shocking how much work the rooms needed. Not a bad first visit to Snowshoe, but next time we'll look for somewhere else.

We've stayed at Allegheny Springs both times we've come to Snowshoe, and being right in the village with direct slope access is hard to beat. I could walk over for Starbucks each morning. The outdoor heated pool and two hot tubs are a nice bonus, and Split Rock Pools is just a short sidewalk walk from the front door. Staff handled every issue quickly. Valet was especially handy on a sold-out mountain with no parking available, at $20 a day.

Ski-in, ski-out is about the only thing to count on here. The staff seemed clueless and didn't appear to care, which made it hard to get basics like extra trash bags or toilet paper even three days into our stay. Set your expectations LOWWWW.

A great base for a ski trip, close to the village and several good lifts. The one annoyance was the wildcats beeping outside the windows at 3 or 4 in the morning. If you're a light sleeper, that can get old.

We really liked how easy it was to reach the lift and the grocery shops. The room was fine until 4 a.m. one night, when our kids woke up to the bathroom flooded and water coming through the ceiling. The front desk got security over quickly, and the leak was dealt with by 7 a.m. We managed, but that was definitely a negative part of the stay.
