Hamlet Inn

The room was clean apart from a slight chemical smell in the bathroom. It had a microwave and a fridge with a freezer, and we didn’t need service during our stay. Best of all, the location is five stars: I could park right outside the room and walk to all the tourist spots in Solvang. We’ll come back.

We came back from breakfast at 10:40, with checkout still 20 minutes away, and found that management had assumed we’d left and thrown out the water we’d brought for our trip. Everything had already been prepared for the next guest, so we couldn’t use the bathroom or make a last-minute check. The Hamlet uses contactless check-in and had said there would be no maid service during our stay. Apparently they thought it was fine to enter and discard our belongings while we were at breakfast. It was extremely upsetting, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I was sad to leave and would’ve stayed another night if they hadn’t been fully booked. The room was simple, comfortable, and had the amenities I needed. It was quiet and relaxing, and the staff were friendly. We arrived early in the morning and were able to check in two hours before the stated time. The hotel is right on Solvang’s strip, close to places to eat. I’d definitely return.

For the price, this was an affordable, clean place with pleasant staff and a great location. The restroom was nice too, with a large shower and good water pressure. But we slept poorly both nights because the mattress in room 4 was terrible, somehow too hard and sagging at the same time. I might stay again, depending on the rate.
