Sonoma Hotel

The room had a very comfortable bed and a bathroom with what you need, though you’ll want to bring your own conditioner. Each room has its own character, and the place has a lovely historic feel. It’s a boutique hotel with an individual style that suited our Sonoma trip perfectly. We also enjoyed the pleasant front desk staff and the coffee in the morning. The hotel is right in town, with the delicious The Girl & The Fig restaurant attached. We had a fantastic stay and I’d happily recommend it to anyone visiting Sonoma.

The main drawback for me was the Wi-Fi. It kept connecting and dropping throughout the stay, and even when it worked, it was extremely slow. The hotel also had no conditioner. They offer “conditioning shampoo,” but it didn’t do the job for me. Those feel like basic things a hotel should provide, though they may not bother you if you’re only here for wine tours. The location is great, and the desk staff were nice. The rooms are small, as you’d expect in a historic building, but they’re clean, cozy, and attractive. The water pressure and heat were very good, and the A/C was amazing, both welcome surprises in an older building.

The morning coffee was really good, and we liked sitting down with a cup before heading out. Being right on the square was great, too. The staff were always friendly and helped with all our questions and recommendations. We had a wonderful stay and would come back.

The historic charm, price compared with nearby hotels, and amazing location were the positives. Still, we won’t stay here on our next Sonoma trip. Our room was very small, with a tiny closet, and there was no ironing board or housekeeping. It felt bare-bones, more like a hostel or B&B, and noise from the hallway and downstairs carried right into the room, so privacy was limited. There’s no elevator, and parking isn’t provided. Finding a nearby space on the weekend can be difficult. We also didn’t get the free breakfast that a Google search advertised. The shower temperature was awful, swinging from freezing cold to scalding hot within minutes.
