Hotel by Best Western Sonora

The front desk guy was genuinely friendly, and I appreciated that. The room itself was spacious, with a newer TV and a reasonably comfortable bed, but there were bugs and it didn’t feel very clean. The door seal strip was badly damaged, and the shower looked patched and not cleaned very well. When I arrived, the room was probably over 80 degrees, and the A/C took a long time to cool it down. Breakfast was okay. It’s not a terrible place, but I think the price should be lower for what you get. With a few fixes, it could be a solid option.

We booked a king room with two sofa beds for 8/4/25-8/5/25. When we couldn’t get the door open, an attendant helped by kicking it in. He said, “Oh, I see this door has not been opened in a while.” The room seemed to have no electricity when we tried the lights, and it smelled awful, like it had been shut up for a long time. He offered another room, but it was worse: dark stains on the carpet and a disgusting, strong urine smell. I said I wasn’t staying there and wanted another room. We were given a king bed with one sofa bed for the same price. The place is filthy and not updated at all. The furniture is so old I could probably find better at a flea market. The sheets and mattress were stained, and the sofa bed was stained too, with its coils hanging out. Breakfast was just toast and cereal, and it wasn’t good. The renovation pictures don’t reflect this hotel. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

The people were nice and let us stay well past checkout while our truck was being repaired. The rooms were clean and the A/C worked well. The TV wasn’t the greatest, but it did the job. For the price, it was worth it, though no one told us at check-in that breakfast wasn’t available. I’d stay again.

I slept great here: the room was quiet, the bed was comfy, and the air conditioner worked. I also liked the fridge, especially its slightly larger freezer section. There are picnic tables around the property and lots of room to walk a dog. The parking lot behind the building is big enough for trucks and campers. There’s a pool, but it looks like it hasn’t been running for a while.
