La Quinta Inn & Suites South Bend near Notre Dame

My room and bed were clean and comfortable, and I felt safe in the area. The staff were pleasant and helpful when I arrived. Booking was surprisingly easy, and I’d definitely stay here again.

The pool is small, but just right for kids, and both the rooms and the modern lobby were clean. I had no major complaints and things were great overall. My one real gripe was the pillows. They felt like giant rocks with no give, and there weren’t any extra blankets in the room.

I stay here often for work because the rooms are usually clean and comfortable, and the staff are generally friendly and helpful. That’s why I keep returning. But today, 02/27/2026, I had a frustrating experience trying to add one day to my stay, something I’ve done before without trouble. The front desk associate said no double beds were available and didn’t seem to check the computer. I looked online right afterward and saw that a double bed room was still available. I’ve mostly had positive stays here, but this felt dismissive and was disappointing. I hope management addresses it so returning guests get consistent, attentive service.

We paid for a rollaway bed and still had to ask for it. There was also an undisclosed $150 charge that we had to ask about. At check-in, the staff member said just 11 words to me: “Can I have your ID” and “the elevator is around the corner.” The staff made me and others I knew at the hotel feel like we were an inconvenience. Our room was dusty, the walls were filthy, and one bed’s linen had stains of a questionable nature. I wasn’t impressed at all.
