The photos online completely misrepresented this room. The whole motel smelled of cat pee and pot, which made me sick because I’m highly allergic to pot. There’s a staircase inside the “room” to get to all the beds on the second floor, and since I’m disabled, I had to sleep on the couch. Except there was no couch, just two chairs. The living-room photos showed a TV, but there wasn’t one, and there was no microwave in the suite. The first-floor half bath had a clogged sink. Upstairs, the queen-bed “bedroom” had no door or TV. Its closet had no hanging bar, shelves, or door. The skylights couldn’t be covered, and the mirror in the king-bed area wouldn’t turn off, so its light stayed on all night. The bathroom in the listing photos looked beautiful, but the curtain was trashy and broken, with paint peeling everywhere. The heat monitor stayed at 54° on AC all night, and it was freezing in the middle of winter. There was only one hand towel and no other towels or washcloths. Given the condition of the room, we didn’t want to shower anyway. I recorded a video of it all. We only had the kids there for one night because of emergency weather and couldn’t find another nearby place that could fit us over the holidays. Freezing rain, sleet, and accidents were everywhere. Honestly, we might have been better off sleeping in our car at a service area and saving the money. This was the worst accommodation we’ve had, from start to finish. Don’t waste your money. There were problems with the charge, too. The $50 pre-authorization was supposed to be the only hold, but they charged $57.50 instead. I was told they’d never seen that before and the whole amount would be released right after checkout, but five days later it still hadn’t been released. The room price was also supposed to be adjusted through Expedia, and my receipt showed less than I was charged. That wasn’t fixed either. It felt like they were trying to scam extra money. The lobby was empty both times I came in, and I had to yell to get someone’s attention in the back room. It was being run by a young Indian guy. There was no furniture like in the pictures. The suite layout and its missing features were especially difficult for me as a disabled guest.

The front desk staff were really sweet, and the rooms were nice and clean. I left and came back the same day.

The whole place felt unsettling. Marijuana smell hung in the air, and the units seemed to house long-term residents, making it feel more like a rundown apartment complex than a hotel. I was also deeply uncomfortable knowing someone had overdosed on the property during my stay. Service was shockingly poor. I waited five hours for towels, which is unacceptable. The disrespect toward guests was astounding, and the accommodations and basic service need major improvement. This was the worst lodging I’ve ever encountered, and I normally wouldn’t bother writing a review. I honestly think the place should be shut down until it can meet proper standards. The experience was that bad.

The manager is really understanding and kind, and can always arrange accommodations. This hotel is outstanding and I’d recommend it over any motel in Middlesex and Somerset County.

My mother and I didn’t even sleep at Somerset Lofts. We got transferred to another hotel as fast as we could. It felt dirty, unsafe, and deeply uncomfortable, with mystery stains everywhere and trash all over. A large party played music until the middle of the night, and the place reeked of human poop, cigarettes, and weed. The outside doors didn’t lock, so anyone could come in at any time. I don’t think staying there at night is a good idea.
