The stay was convenient for the airport, the rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly. But my $100.00 cash deposit went missing. I paid cash and left the deposit, which wasn’t a problem at the time. We had to leave very early to drop my daughter at the airport, so I called later to say I’d pick up the deposit another time. When I came back, the desk clerk said they didn’t have it and told me I could collect it tomorrow at 11am. She was nice but embarrassed. How do you not have my deposit? When I asked, a man standing at the desk said, “the owner probably got it.” I assume he was a guest checking in or out. Keeping a guest’s deposit is bad business. Pay with plastic.

During a two-night stay caused by a weather emergency, I had a bad experience with a manager named Kristin. She was disrespectful and impatient. We started packing at 9:30 AM for an 11:00 AM checkout, but Kristen repeatedly called our room and eventually threatened to charge us for another night unless we were out in 10 minutes. She showed no empathy for us traveling with an elderly relative and a service dog. Staff also complained that we stripped the bed and bagged our trash to help the maids. This hotel doesn’t appreciate its guests. I don’t recommend staying here. Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere that welcomes guests and pets and service animals with treats, bowls, a mat, and friendly service. The hotel is SONESTA ES SUITES CHARLESTON WV 200 HOTEL CIR, CHARLESTON WV 25311.

We stayed for 15 Nights, from September 5th to September 20, 2025, and hope to see the staff again in 2026. All the areas we saw, including the breakfast area, our room, lobby, and parking lot, were clean and well kept. We met several employees working hard to keep the property looking good inside and out: Kristin, Kelly, Samantha, Becky, and Anthony. I apologize if I’ve left anyone out. Jamie greeted us at check-in, got us settled quickly, and knew a lot about the property and surrounding area. Congratulations to the employees for a job well done, and thanks for a great experience. My wife and I researched motels around Charleston, West Virginia, and chose the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham near The Mound in South Charleston. Booking through Hotels.com was simple, and the central spot near the interstate exchanges worked well for visiting family and friends in the area.

The rooms are smaller than usual, but that’s expected at a “microtel,” so no big deal. It was very clean, the bathroom was modern, and the shower head was amazing. There’s a microwave and fridge in the room, plus a vending machine and ice on the 2nd floor. Staff were friendly and helpful, the bed was really comfortable, and breakfast was very good between 0630 - 0930. Great spot close to I-77, I-64, and more. I’d definitely stay again. Highly recommend!
