Blue Jay Lodge

I found it a little different from most places I stay while traveling, though I enjoyed it and will probably come back. It has a motel version of an Airbnb feel, which isn’t good or bad, just not what I expected the first time. There’s no desk staff; the only staff member I saw was clearing snow in the parking lot. My room access came by text, and the parking pass was in the information binder. The room was spacious with a really large bathroom. It’s fairly close to Heavenly Village, but watch out for ice since sidewalks are scarce and the ones there can be slick.

The management was incredibly helpful and quick to respond whenever we had a question or concern, even though someone isn’t always in the office. The Blue Jay is also only a short walk, about two blocks, from the Gondola. Our room was super nice, with attractive furniture that looked new and warm, pet-friendly hardwood-look floors that felt cleaner than carpet. The memory foam mattress was very comfortable.

Being pet friendly was the best part for me, and my pup loved the trip. The room had everything I needed, including a little refrigerator, microwave, and free wifi. It was spacious, clean, well supplied, and the bed was comfortable. The contactless setup was easy, and the online staff responded quickly. The location is quiet, away from the busy main drag, with walls that seem soundproof since I couldn’t hear the neighbors. Heavenly gondola and the casinos are within walking distance, and Basecamp brew pub is right next door, where you can sit by the fire with a beer.

We’ve stayed at Blue Jay Lodge twice this year. The team is very responsive, self check-in is easy, and the room was clean and warm both times. It’s affordable and in a great location, though nothing especially special. Parking and thin walls were the only negatives.
