The bed was surprisingly sturdy and comfortable, and the gas fireplace-style heater kept the room cozy during our snowy first week of January stay. That warmth mattered, since the furniture felt flimsy and the walls were paper-thin. The Jeffrey Hotel is a good value in a resort town, and its location near the gondola is a real plus for skiers. We only found the snow-covered shortcut around day three, but it made the walk easier. One thing to sort out before arrival: there’s no staff on site, and you only get the entry codes after completing online check-in. It’s easy to miss that step, and we saw other guests trying to figure it out in the parking lot. The automated setup felt a little counterproductive. The hotel also prompts for tips at checkout and even on the door. With no staff around, that seemed unnecessary, though maybe it’s for guests using optional cleaning or those who want to tip without cash. The Jeffrey works well for a practical mountain trip, but the quiet isn’t guaranteed and some of the furnishings feel basic.

It was handy being able to reach the gondola, shuttle, restaurants, coffee shops, and entertainment on foot in about 10-15 minutes. We liked relaxing in the lobby a couple of times, and the fireplace in our room was a highlight. There isn’t a staffed lobby, but they responded quickly by text or phone when we had requests. We had room 18, which was a bit cramped for two people with all our gear, though it did the job for the price. The bathroom has no fan, so it gets steamy. We were on the top floor and still heard people coming back from the mountain, stomping their boots on the stairs. I can only imagine how loud it would be downstairs.

A car problem on arrival meant we needed a late checkout, and when the car needed repairs, they extended our stay at a discount. Their hospitality really saved my vacation. The guest relations were a real highlight: every time I called, someone came up with a helpful solution. We had a clean, comfortable room and a great time. The location is ideal, near the beach and casinos while still tucked into a quiet neighborhood. We're definitely coming back.

We like The Jeffrey Hotel enough that this was our second stay, and we'd probably return. The room was roomy and comfortable, and the location is excellent. The trees around the property are lovely and add a lot of charm. A few things need attention. The shower curtain was moldy and smelled strong, and although the floor looked clean, our socks turned completely black after walking around. The exposed bulbs may fit the look, but they were harsh and uncomfortable in the evening. A few updates would make a big difference.

The heater failed twice during our three-night October stay, when nights were in the 40s. It worked on the first night, then stopped by morning and was fixed that day. On our last night it went out around 11 p.m. At that point it was 67°F indoors, but by 7 a.m. on checkout day it was down to 62°F. I messaged the host that morning, but they only asked when we were leaving and reminded us to tip housekeeping. If you don't have cash, they send a link. The lack of concern about fixing the heat really affected the stay. There were other problems too: thin walls meant we could hear everything, the glass doors didn’t feel secure, and the cheap furniture included a wobbly side table and a noisy bed frame that creaked with very little movement. There was no in-room safe. I don't know where to get ice, though there was an ice bucket in the room. We had smaller issues I might have overlooked on their own. If you stay in colder weather, bring your own heater, you'll need it. If you want a jetted tub to relax in, I'd recommend paying a little more to stay at Bally's.
