The shower is a real safety problem. Its tiled floor gets slippery, and my husband and I nearly fell more than once. The drain area is a roughly one-inch-deep hole with a grate and rough concrete around it. My youngest and I both cut our feet on it, because the materials are completely wrong for that spot. We stayed for a few months while getting ready to move out of state, rather than sign a new lease. The owner was fine as a person, and we paid a deposit. He said at check-in that he'd stop by between 11 and 1 to see if we needed anything, but sometimes he came before 11 or after 1, and sometimes not at all. Most weeks he came once and asked whoever was in the room to step out while he cleaned. If nobody was there, he'd let himself in. I know it's his place, but I wasn't comfortable with that. Hotels should give notice before entering, and so should he. We moved out the other day after cleaning the room, stripping the beds, scrubbing the bathroom and fridge, and sweeping and vacuuming. I called that evening because he hadn't contacted us about the deposit. He refused to return it, saying the carpet had stains. Seriously? EDIT: There wasn't food on the walls. We mostly used an air fryer because we couldn't use the skillet, and when we did use it, we took it outside like he asked. His claim that cleaning took an hour is false; it took maybe 20 minutes. We weren't asleep. My husband worked evenings, and I did DoorDash four evenings a week. We paid on time and kept the room as clean as we could with five people in it. His reply makes clear he doesn't know who he's talking about: we have three kids. They're loud and rambunctious, but not disgusting. When I did a deep clean after he left, I scrubbed the bathroom better than it had been when we arrived.

I've been here since July and have never had an issue. The rates are fair, and the other guests are usually friendly. As long as you follow the basic motel rules, like not smoking in your room or disturbing people, things are fine. The owners work hard to keep the place up. They knock and announce themselves in the morning, then I let them know what I need. I've been here long enough that I clean my own room, but when I don't feel up to it, they're happy to do it. They've also been understanding when I've been short on rent, letting me owe them or telling me not to worry if I was only a few dollars short. I'm expecting a baby soon, and the owners showed up with gifts for the baby. They also buy gifts for people at the motel on holidays. They're great people, and I highly recommend staying here.

We had a quiet, enjoyable stay, and the room was very clean. The owner was kind, and the high-speed internet worked well. It's a quiet motel at a reasonable rate. We'd recommend it and plan to come back.

The owner was patient with my two babies, who were worn out from the long drive and needed to stretch their legs. The location is peaceful, and the hotel is spacious, quiet, and well maintained. The rooms, sheets, and pillows were very clean, and the price was fair. You can tell the owners take pride in the place. I'd recommend it 10/10, and we'll stay again on our next trip to Detroit.

We booked late in the evening for that same night, just me, my daughter, and my two grandchildren. This was the only hotel within six miles, and it cost much less than the nearest option I found with one king bed. For a last-minute stay, it turned out to be a clean, safe, very affordable budget hotel. The building is old and outdated, but the owner was always around managing and maintaining the place, which made me feel secure there alone with the kids. Our room had two full beds, fresh linens, a mini-fridge, and a microwave. It was spacious, and the bathroom was clean, with a walk-in shower. The fan came on with the light, so humidity didn't build up. There were windows on both sides with sliding blinds; they had some summer buildup, but let in bright morning light. The heater and fan, cable TV, and Wi-Fi all worked, with the Wi-Fi surprisingly holding up through the storm. Getting to the ground-floor rooms means using a hard key and climbing five stairs; there are more stairs to the second floor. Service was excellent. Even with all the children with me, nobody frowned at us or charged extra.
