Holiday Inn Express San Francisco-Airport North by IHG

The breakfast was good, and our room was clean when we arrived. But I had booked two beds for four adults, and after a full day of travel we were given just one bed and a very small chaise lounge. We were told we couldn't switch rooms until the next day, which made things stressful and uncomfortable for my family. I was later promised a call from management and told I could speak with the General Manager at a set time, so I changed my travel plans to be available. The manager wasn't there when promised, and nobody called back. I appreciated the cleanliness and breakfast, but the reservation problem was never resolved.

We've stayed here twice and enjoyed both visits, especially the room with extra floor space. Nearby restaurants and shops gave us plenty to enjoy while sightseeing, and the airport is conveniently close. We also liked the whirl pool, exercise room, and hot breakfast. My husband prefers the room cold, while I like it warm, so I asked the front desk for another blanket. Flora from housekeeping quickly brought one that was warm, fluffy, and just the right size. I stayed comfortable even with my husband blasting the AC.

Our first-floor room faced the parking lot, and it felt uncomfortable and unsafe because people could easily see inside. When we asked to move, we were refused at first. Later they said a move was possible, but wanted to charge $20, and only brought it up on our last day. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, and the staff were rude and unhelpful from the start. Breakfast had few choices and a tiny seating area that filled up fast. It was a frustrating stay, and I wouldn't return or recommend the hotel.

The rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and informative. The free breakfast buffet was fully stocked. One odd thing I hadn't encountered before: the airport shuttle doesn't run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If your flight arrives or leaves during those hours, you'll need to arrange your own ride.
