La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham San Francisco Airport N

I was unsure what to expect since I’d never visited San Francisco before, but the staff made the arrival easy. Check-in wasn’t supposed to be until 3pm; I left my number and they called when a room opened up early. I really appreciated that. Everything was very clean and smelled nice throughout. Luz Gonzales was especially sweet and wonderful, and I gave her a hug before leaving. The only thing I didn’t like was having to pay for parking. Otherwise it was an amazing stay, and I’d book again without hesitation. I’d even come back for a weekend. Thank you!

The room and hotel were clean when I arrived, and the front desk staff were responsive. They lent me plates and spoons for dinner and also arranged a late checkout, so those things were appreciated. The problem was housekeeping. I was told service came every three days, but I stayed six days and five nights without a single cleaning. I ran short of towels most days; they brought toilet paper, but the bed sheets stayed the same and neither the room nor bathroom was cleaned. On the fourth night the desk said the staff member was new, and on the fifth I got an apology. Sorry doesn’t fix it. If my credit card were declined, would an apology be enough? Stay here only if you’re fine going six days without housekeeping or a clean room. I thought Wyndham hotels were good, but this experience has put me off this hotel and chain.

The rooms were nice, but we were placed in the second building while breakfast was in the main one. Walking outside in the cold was annoying, and I can imagine rain would make it worse. Our coffee maker looked like it had never been cleaned, which was gross, and the walls were thin enough that we heard kids yelling from a family three doors away. Late at night, around 9:30-10 pm, the fire alarm system short-circuited and woke us. The elevators stopped after that, and since we were on the fourth floor and already tired from walking all day, it was frustrating to call three times before getting an update. The ice machine kept saying it was delayed by 60 minutes for over two hours. We were told rooms are cleaned automatically on day three, but ours was missed. I called several times for fresh towels and never got them. Parking also costs $47-$48 for two nights. It seems service depends on what you pay. Despite being near the airport, I strongly suggest staying somewhere else.

My room was in the back building beside the railroad, and it was already very hot when I walked in. The door didn’t fit its frame, leaving a large gap at the bottom. I told the front desk the heater seemed to be on, and she said she’d send a technician. I waited two hours. He reset the AC and took out a string that seemed to control the temperature. It blew cold for about ten minutes, then stopped cooling. Later the room was hot again, with the AC only blowing fan-like air. I reported it, but they wouldn’t move me because the technician said it was working and offered to send him again. Really frustrating.
