Kedron Valley Inn

The garden is gorgeous, parking is convenient, and the location is very close to Woodstock. They provided swimming towels and daily housekeeping, which is pretty rare now, and the Country Store next door is lovely. But the room wasn't as advertised, with very steep stairs in the building and more inside the room on the way to the bed. There was no host on site. The only coffee was from a Keurig in the main house, and when I called ahead asking about activities in the area, they told me to look online instead of recommending anything. The pond has no place to sit and no trash cans. There are good things here, but at this price I wouldn't return.

We had a great family weekend sledding and snowshoeing, and would definitely come back. Our room was clean and cozy, and since the motel-style rooms are pet friendly, we could bring our dog. The location is in a great part of town for shops and restaurants. The women working at the Country Store next door were so friendly, and they serve a delicious breakfast at a good price. My son left his backpack there by accident. They returned it to the hotel, and the staff kindly mailed it back to me. We stayed starting the day after Christmas.

We asked the next morning if there was another room available, and the friendly staff moved us to one that was quieter and more spacious. We'd booked two nights in early August 2017, and although our first room had lots of character and was immaculately clean, it was small and just above the dining room. Music from downstairs made it hard to fall asleep. The inn is away from Woodstock center and beside a swimming pond, which made it a relaxing stop on our Vermont tour. Breakfast had lots of options and very good coffee. The staff were understanding and super friendly.

The brick oven pizza was fresh and delicious, with a nicely crisp crust that wasn't burnt. The Mediterranean salad had a light dressing, though I wanted more of it. Our seasonal drink was decent but strong. The place had a warm, homey feel inside.
