The owners were really friendly, and our room had tasteful decor and a very comfortable bed. We spent two lovely nights at the Lincoln inn & gallery. The attention to detail made the stay relaxing, and breakfast was delicious in a pleasant atmosphere. We look forward to coming back.

We came during a quieter stretch in the middle of the week, and it was wonderful. On arrival, we were surprised with a complimentary upgrade, which gave us much-appreciated extra room while traveling with our baby. The room, shared spaces, and property were all beautiful. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast options, and the staff were consistently pleasant and helpful. The setting is peaceful and private, while still close to the sights around Woodstock. We'd love to return.

The room was in poor shape, and I found the stay at Lincoln Inn very disappointing. The bed was so soft that I was startled by how far I sank when I sat down. The air conditioning worked, but there was no way to set the temperature I wanted. The door had become misaligned, which can happen in an old historic building, but the repair left it open by about 3/4 inch, with no real privacy or security. Its handle screws were loose, and a tiny block of wood held the door. A light push seemed enough to make that latch give way, despite the owner's claim that it was secure. The room may have been painted, but that doesn't fix the questionable commercial quality of the bed or the lack of AC control. Information about the room and inn was taped to the wall on 8 1/2 x 11 office paper. For a place that often charges over $300 a night, that shouldn't be happening. Breakfast was continental, served uncovered in the open air, and guests had to sign up on a clipboard. That doesn't feel like the way a high-class inn should operate. The fruit and other food were left unattended. I didn't post pictures of the food, sign-up sheet, or papers on the wall out of respect for a family trying to earn a living. And when you're on vacation, do you necessarily know the night before what your morning plans will be? Signing up for breakfast at check-in isn't like ordering at a restaurant after you've gone there to eat. The young man who checked us in wasn't friendly or like the staff at the other inns on our trip. I believe he was the owner's son, and he also tried to help with the AC, but the guidance wasn't useful. The remote was missing from the room; the one he brought was filthy, and he didn't seem to know how the unit worked. WiFi access was complicated, with the code taped to a wall where you had to stand beside it to read it. The inn simply didn't feel welcoming. In my opinion, the owners need basic training in running an inn, and the maintenance and other details need attention before I'd stay here again. I dislike leaving negative reviews when owners seem to be trying hard, and I tried to be kind. In response, the owner defended the business, which is understandable, but their explanation left questions. If that bed was new, it didn't seem like commercial quality, perhaps it was a bed-in-a-box. I'm also fairly sure at least some other reviews may be from friends of the owners trying to build positive feedback. The owner's response and repeated phrases in other reviews, such as "recently renovated" and "amazing service," made me suspicious.

The beds were warm and comfortable, the breakfasts were great, and the hosts were gracious. This historic home, originally belonging to a cousin of Abraham Lincoln, has a peaceful atmosphere and sits along the river at the edge of Woodstock. We loved our stay and will be back.

The rooms were cozy and comfy, breakfast was perfect, and the service was amazing. It really felt like being at home. We enjoyed the fireplace and the beautiful night sky after coming back from our event. Everyone was friendly, including Ella, one of the housekeepers, who was so cool. Thanks so much, Lincoln Inn and Gallery. We'll definitely return!
