Residence Inn by Marriott Memphis Southaven

The breakfast was fresh, clean, and delicious, especially for a free offering. There isn't a restaurant on site, but there are all kinds of food within one to two miles. The layout is clean and efficient, with what you need for a night or a month. Our studio had a full kitchen and cooktop, plus a grill on site and a laundry room. Wash and dry were $2 each, enough for a full load. The couch sagged a bit, but we barely used it. The bed was comfortable, everything felt clean, and I liked the closet and the sink separate from the toilet and shower. Water pressure was great. Check-in was amazing. Brenda did a great job, and everyone from the cleaning staff to the operations manager made me feel welcome, almost like a celebrity. The pictures don't tell the whole story of this area. I highly recommend staying and seeing it for yourself. I'll be back.

Every time we stay, Mrs. Ruth makes sure we're well looked after. She's so warm, welcoming, and kind, and the customer service here is exceptional. This place is awesome all around.

The desk woman was very friendly and positive when I checked in, but what happened afterward completely changed my impression. About 90 miles down the road, I realized I'd left my jacket in the closet and called to ask if it could be mailed home. The person I spoke with said she'd follow up, then texted me a link to enter my information and choose a mailing service. From Southaven ms to Wisconsin, the prices ran from over $1,700 for FedEx express to $1,054 for ups. I was shocked. A package of that weight and distance would normally cost $20-$30. Maybe a ton of things had been left in the room, but that was a terrible experience. This will probably be my last stay at a residence inn.

The staff were friendly, and they put together a nice welcome package. But staff said every room here is "Pet Friendly," which makes this a horrible choice if you have pet allergies or don't want soiled carpets. My carpet was frayed and had a heavy deodorizer smell. The whole room smelled like deodorizer mixed with curry, just gross. I found out too late. I've stayed at three of the four Marriott properties in Southhaven, and all of them were poorly maintained and below the standards I've found elsewhere.
