Detroit Marriott Southfield

Barbara is a big reason I enjoy the M Lounge on the sixth floor. It’s small but never felt crowded, and she’s one of the friendliest Marriott attendants I’ve met. She keeps it clean and well stocked, and I always enjoy her smile when I come in. I travel for work a lot, and this is probably my favorite Detroit hotel. I alternate with the Element at Metropolitan, but I like that parking here is plentiful and valet isn’t required. The rooms have plenty of space, hardwood floors, and a workstation. There are charging outlets by both bedside tables and at the desk. The bed is among the most comfortable I’ve had in a hotel. WiFi is easy to connect to, there’s a Starbucks on-site, and the bathroom is clean with good water pressure.

Barbara made the concierge lounge feel welcoming, and I felt valued whenever I stopped in. Her warm, genuine personality brightened my day. The room was consistently clean and well cared for, with fresh food presented nicely. Her service made the whole stay feel special. She’s a real asset to the team.

We were exhausted after traveling from Nigeria and London, but made the trip to Detroit for a surprise birthday party. My wife is pregnant, and we chose a hotel so we wouldn’t burden family. I expected the usual decent Marriott stay, but the team made us feel welcome back home. When my wife felt nauseated, Adrienne at the front desk searched for peppermint tea to help her. In the restaurant, Jestiny was busy and carrying dishes, but stopped to hear my request for hot water. She finished what she was doing, brought it in a doubled cup to keep it warm, and asked whether I wanted a lid. That extra care was excellent service. The two women in the sixth-floor concierge breakfast and dinner room were also polite and quick. When my wife asked for fruit and the delivery hadn’t arrived, the breakfast attendant went down to the truck for fresh fruit to slice. Staff smiled, welcomed us, and did more than offer a one-word greeting. Fantastic stay, thanks to the team.

We were here for a women’s conference, and every staff member treated us so well. I travel quite a bit, so that kind of service is rare. Keith, the manager, was warm, helpful, and very professional. The rooms were clean and the food was pretty good too. I’d highly recommend this location.
