Robert Ruark Inn B&B

Our host took great care of us. There are several comfortable places in the house to relax, read, or chat with your companion. Our room and bathroom were roomy and clean, and the bed was really comfortable.

Southport is a lovely little town, with great restaurants and shops, a cool ocean breeze even in August, and plenty of history. I enjoyed hearing how it went from early border defense to a busy fishing port and then a favorite Hollywood filming spot. Rick gives a fascinating tour in his golf cart, which seats six comfortably and safely, and he knows so much about the town and its past. The “Robert Ruark Inn” brings old world charm together with modern conveniences, and Rick and Linda are wonderful hosts who work hard to make your stay special, even if you're only there for a weekend. The inn is clean and quiet, and felt like our own place. We had no bad meals the whole trip, and I liked the area enough that I plan to retire in or near town. My wife and I came in August, and the coast was pleasant despite the heat inland. It would be a great destination, and we'll take home marvelous memories.

Rick and Linda's breakfasts are hard to beat, and having wine and cheese on the porch in the afternoon is so relaxing. The location is perfect, with everything within walking distance, and we've even come to think of the neighbors as friends. We love the inn and have stayed several times. Each visit has been just as good as the last. Come enjoy it, you won't regret it.

We had a lovely time visiting with the other guests, and the whole stay was a great experience. Rick and Linda were great hosts. Breakfast was really good each morning, and they served wine and cheese in the afternoon.
