This was my third time at the Lindenwood Inn, and each visit makes me love it more. It feels both restful and luxurious, with a great pool and hot tub. The quiet neighborhood in Southwest Harbor is close to downtown but away from the crowds around Acadia and Bar Harbor, so it really feels tucked away. I had Room 3, one of my favorites, though every room in the main house has its own character and a beautiful bathroom. Many also have a porch or balcony. There are lots of outdoor spots to relax, and the sectional on the front porch is especially comfortable. Jim, the owner, is so kind, and the staff are always warm and helpful. This place is a gem. I’m already looking forward to coming back.

We’re already planning to return next summer. Room 13 in the Annex was beautifully decorated, had everything we needed, a great view of the water, and a gas fireplace on the wall. We visited for a weekend in late July and were impressed by the buildings, grounds, views, and all the thoughtful touches. The staff were friendly and informative. The pool and hot tub were so inviting that we skipped hikes to spend time there. Breakfast was delicious, with yogurt, fruit, muffins, coffee, tea, and a main dish brought to the table. Though the house isn’t big, there are plenty of tables for two or four, indoors and outside. We liked the honor bar, but only used the provided ice and water to refill our bottles. Coffee and tea were available for most of the day too.

We loved the quiet setting around Southwest Harbor, much more than staying in Bar Harbor. Beal’s lobster pier and both Claremont restaurants are within walking distance, and Main St has plenty of restaurants and ice cream a short stroll away. We had a great time at the Lindenwood Inn for our three-day mini-moon after the wedding. Beth even helped print our Acadia park passes, which was a lifesaver. Everyone was lovely and made us feel looked after. Breakfast conversations were great, but nobody kept us talking when we were in a hurry. We made time every day to unwind by the stunning pool and hot tub. There are little corners to relax in, towels were always available, and the quiet atmosphere was so calming. We also enjoyed a late-night drink on the front porch. Breakfast was an ideal start, with lots of choices and the option to sit inside or outside. Our room was stylish, with a very comfy bed and excellent AC. We hadn’t expected to have a little water view from the balcony, which was a nice surprise. The bathroom looked newly finished, and the rain shower was lovely. I wish we’d taken more photos. If you want a cozy, peaceful Southwest Harbor retreat, you should stay here.

There are so many good spots nearby to eat and explore. Red Sky is an easy walk from the inn and serves an outstanding dinner, so book ahead. Northwest Harbor is a charming little town with several excellent restaurants, and it’s a good starting point for Blue Hill, Deer Island, Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Seal Harbor, and Acadia National Park. Cadillac Mountain gives you a view of the whole seacoast. The park and Bar Harbor are about a 15-minute drive away. Bar Harbor is fun but crowded, with lots of parking restrictions. Back at the inn, the pool and hot tub are wonderful after a day out. There are cozy sitting rooms for reading, having a drink from the honor bar, or enjoying fresh coffee. The breakfasts are lovely, and the decor, location, and warm hospitality all made a great impression. I can’t think of anything I’d change. I’m surprised this place has a two-star rating, and it makes me wonder how ratings are decided or whether they can be trusted.

The inn is wonderfully relaxing, with plenty of places to sit, a cozy indoor fireplace area for reading or chatting, and a spacious, comfortable outdoor patio. Breakfast was delicious and filling: the cooked dish plus cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, cakes, coffee, tea, and juice. Our adult son and his girlfriend actually got up for breakfast here, while they’d slept in at the inn we stayed at before in Bar Harbor. Manuel was kind and knew his stuff. He explained everything, mixed good drinks, and was always smiling. Beth was a sweetheart, just the warm person you want to see when you come downstairs. The rooms were a bit small. Ours in the main building cost quite a bit more than our other two rooms, but I couldn’t see what made it different from one of the cheaper ones. The bed was too soft for us, but that’s personal preference. The hot tub was broken during our visit, bad timing, and we didn’t try the small heated pool. We walked up the street to buy some jams to take home and went to Beal’s one night for a fabulous meal. We also did a gorgeous hike. It’s beautiful and much quieter here than Bar Harbor. A great spot for a lovely inn.
