Nugget Casino Resort

Check-in was easy at the self-service kiosk, and the price matched what I’d been quoted when I booked. The room was very clean and nice, with a comfortable bed and a Jacuzzi tub. We were right in front of the big neon sign, which didn’t bother me, and the curtains made the room completely dark. The casino was nice, though we don’t gamble much. The pool area was pretty nice too, with lots of windows, a neat waterfall feature, and a good hot tub. We went Monday and Tuesday nights and it was still fairly busy.

The in-person service was amazing. The woman who checked me in was polite and helpful, and the rest of the staff were friendly too. That made up for my first interaction, when Tanya the hotel receptionist was very rude and hung up on me while I was asking about my booking. I’m glad I gave the hotel a chance. The stay was great, and I’d absolutely come back and recommend it. I travel a lot and have booked plenty of hotels, but only leave reviews for places that leave an impression. I booked the Junior Suite for a basketball conference with teenage boys, and it was huge, with plenty of space for us and our bags, plus a sitting area. There was even room for extra roll-up beds if the hotel has any available. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub, there were plenty of towels, the showers were hot, and the beds were comfy. Complimentary water was nice too. It felt like a home away from home, and I was pleasantly surprised. Parking was plentiful, and the location was so convenient. The convention center was no more than a 10-minute drive, and a plaza with food and stores was just two exits down.

This was a good place to rest on our road trip. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, including when they moved us from the casino side to the resort side at check-in. The remodeled room there was more family friendly for our one-year-old. Someone took our key at the pool, but the staff understood and got us another one right away. The pool area could have been cleaned up and cared for better, though it was pretty busy. I’d recommend staying here.

The price was lower than other hotels nearby, so you get what you pay for. Our neighbors were quiet and the beds were comfortable, but there were no fitted sheets or mattress pads, and my kids wound up sleeping directly on the mattresses. The room had only two towels for four guests, and they don’t clean rooms unless you ask. We were placed on the casino side. The shower leaked water into the tub while I was using it, the toilet didn’t flush well, and the carpet was grubby. The pool water looked murky. There were sports events in town and lots of kids in the pool that weekend, so I decided not to go in. They’re updating the elevator system, and it wasn’t working very well. Sometimes several full elevators opened on our floor, so we had to keep waiting for one with room.
