Hilton Garden Inn Spartanburg

The room was roomy and quiet, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner at the attached restaurant was good, and Delian’s server was great. A charge I hadn’t made was put on my room, but they fixed it and refunded it the next day. My wife found the bed uncomfortable, while I thought it was fine. We sleep on a Sleep Number bed at home, so we don’t agree on what feels comfortable. No complaints overall.

We stayed two nights while traveling through the area on vacation with our family of four. The location was easy to reach, near other hotels, and the lobby felt spacious, clean, and fancy. The hotel and room were exceptionally clean overall, and I have high standards for that. I liked the little coat and shoe nook by the door, which was handy for luggage, plus there was plenty of space to keep bags off the floor. The pull-chain blackout blind was better than bulky curtains, and I appreciated the glass shower doors, newer microwave, and very clean mini fridge. The beds were the main problem. The mattresses felt cheap, and I kept rolling toward my husband. They provide only three pillows per bed instead of the usual four. One feather pillow seemed promising but flattened as soon as I put my head on it, leaving my neck sore in the morning. For a hotel aiming for a classy feel, some bathroom cleaning details were missed: stains on the walls, a few spots of mold, more mold in the freshly caulked shower corner, and a rusty toilet paper holder that left stains on the wall. I’d trust the hotel with my family again, but please get better mattresses and pillows.

Tina and Hayden made us feel welcome and looked after the whole time. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly cared, which is what made our stay memorable. The room, amenities, and atmosphere were all top-notch too. We had a great experience and will definitely come back.

I may not see the Hilton Garden Inn staff again since I’m getting a Generac for my home, but I hope they keep doing what they’re doing. During Winter Storm Fern, we stayed there to be warm and comfortable, and what I saw was a glimpse of what humanity should look like. Elderly guests, people with disabilities, power workers, and single mothers with children were all treated like family. Everyone, from maintenance to the concierge to the restaurant hostess, was kind and comforting. Heirloom is usually a nicer restaurant, with very good food. One woman came to the host stand in her pajamas with a child to order room service. She seemed uncomfortable, and the hostess told her not to worry about the kids or how she was dressed, to bring her family in and enjoy the dining room. The woman smiled and went to get them. Those words clearly meant a lot. Keep it up, Hilton Garden Inn. You have an incredible team. Take care of yourselves and each other!
