Fox's Lair had two beds, which is unusual for a B&B, and was clean and spacious. We spent two nights, Thursday to Saturday, at this beautiful historic place and had a great stay. Staff were kind and helpful, and breakfast in the lovely downstairs dining room was delicious and homemade. The outdoor hot tub was a treat under the stars with the mountains around us. Old Rag was about 30 minutes away for our Friday hike, and Sperryville and the wineries are only minutes away. We'd love to return.

Sarah, the innkeeper, was so sweet and made us feel welcome even though we arrived rather late. We stayed in the Queen's Room, which was lovelier than the photos, with a spacious bathroom and a fabulous large glass shower. The whole property showed such attention to detail, from the decor to the high-quality linens and charming, delicious breakfast service. We wanted to experience the Virginia countryside, and this off-the-beaten-track inn was well worth the extra driving time. Highly recommend, and we'll definitely return.

We went for a girls' weekend and had an amazing time. Breakfast came with muffins and fruit, and at 4pm there was happy hour with very nice wine and cookies. The room was lovely, with two Queen beds and a modern bathroom. Great spot near the national park and plenty of hiking, and perfect for fall foliage. Highly recommend.

The breakfast was the letdown for me. I'm not a cold breakfast person, and the continental spread of yogurt and toast disappointed me. It was the same every day apart from the cold baked item, which got boring after several days. With several lovely staff members supporting breakfast, I don't understand why they couldn't offer eggs, pancakes, or bacon. The setting is absolutely beautiful and ideal for exploring Shenandoah National Park. The bocce court, hot tub, and lovely shared spaces added to the overall enjoyment. Our room and bathroom were very nice, with beautiful views. The staff were lovely, but breakfast is why I rated it four instead of five.
