Days Inn Springfield South

It's right across from Bass Pro Shop and the new Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium, though be careful crossing the busy street on foot. I've stayed here a few times for business, and the whole hotel has been nice and clean. I haven't had any room complaints so far, but I would prefer a bigger TV. The indoor pool looks clean and nice, though I haven't used it. Breakfast is okay, the usual hot breakfast quality, but there's no meat. They make the orange juice from concentrate daily, which is a plus if you don't like juice machines.

My room was clean and tidy, and the check-in process was quick and smooth. The staff were very helpful when I needed to add another night through Expedia. They made it easy for me to stay in the same room.

We were there for a charity event and stayed Friday and Saturday nights. After getting back around 3 a.m. Saturday night into Sunday morning, my whole family was woken up by the cleaning staff talking loudly and shouting right outside our door. We'd left the do not disturb sign on the outside handle. We pay a lot for a room to sleep, and staff ignoring that sign left a bad taste in my mouth. The rooms were okay, but the hot tub by the pool was broken and only lukewarm at best. I called the hotel to say I was leaving a bad review because staff woke us, but nothing was done to correct it. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, and we won't stay there again.

The room was nice enough, but after we left I found an extra $18.83 charge on my credit card. When I called, they said the maid had found a black stain on our sheet that couldn't be removed, and they were charging us for it. I can assure you our luggage and vehicle were clean, and we don't even sit on the bed with our shoes on. It feels like a great scam: it's their word against ours, and we lose. Charge a few customers a week this way and it adds up. Travelers, beware!
