We paid $160 a night, and this stay was unacceptable. Our family was kept awake all night by what sounded like a rodent in the walls, running and scratching loudly until morning. The sanitation of the hotel is really concerning, and we won't return or stay at a Wyndham affiliated hotel again. The room we were moved to had dead bugs on the carpet, and the coffee cup lids had pen marks, presumably from a previous guest. It didn't seem properly cleaned. In the first room, the shower and tub wouldn't drain, and it was only 60° when we arrived. Even with the thermostat set to 72°, the room wouldn't warm up. The travel sized shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were almost empty, which made me think they hadn't been replaced after the last guest. The hotel felt unclean and outdated apart from the check-in area. The pool floor smelled of mildew, the gym was closed, and the pool towel rack was empty. It was hard to get more towels from staff. Ice machines on most floors were broken, the room furniture was badly worn, and our bedsheets had holes. Staff were courteous when arranging the room change, but the rest of the experience was a letdown.

The city view from the 27th floor was beautiful, and there's a Starbucks connected to the hotel. The front desk staff were kind, and the location is terrific, right in the middle of historical Springfield with plenty of places within walking distance. The parking garage is right by the building, though access is limited, so expect to walk a bit. Our two rooms were very clean, but felt dated and cheap. The air unit seemed close to giving out, and neither room had a mini fridge or microwave. Most elevators weren't working, and the indoor pool was disappointing for a hotel this size. The breakfast buffet, bar, and restaurant were all closed. The lobby looked nice, but the rest of the property needs some care. We visit Springfield often and would stay here each time if the rooms were more updated. The hotel could use a proper face-lift.

The best part is how easy it is to walk to Springfield's important sites. Parking in the nearby garage was convenient too, and $10 with in/out privileges was appreciated. The room was comfortable enough, but pretty average, and the hotel could use some updates. I paid a little extra for a city view, though the curtains only opened halfway, so it was hard to see the point of paying for that. The pool and workout room were closed. The front desk staff were pleasant, but could use more training.

The location is great, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It's dated, which is fine, but it's also poorly kept. The pool couldn't be used, the ice machine was broken, and the elevators were out. We were on the 9th floor with two kids, and staff didn't offer to help with our bags or let us use a service elevator. My interactions with staff, apart from Katrina at the front desk, left me unsure about the hotel's leadership. Katrina was amazing.

The staff were apologetic and well meaning, and the waitstaff understood when I missed breakfast. I still managed to get some food, but the elevator trouble made me miss both breakfast and the first conference session. The elevators in this thirty-story tower had broken down, so walking down all those flights made me dread the climb back up, especially with two bags. They were working again later that day. I was there for a conference and had a room from a reserved block, but it wasn't ready at the 4pm check-in. They gave me a voucher for a free drink at the Starbucks downstairs. Then the beds had no sheets. I didn't end up sleeping on a bare mattress, and the staff apologized for both problems. The building feels old and creaky, and sways in the wind. My room phone looked straight out of 1993, the toilets seemed made for kindergarteners, and both beds sagged. The walls showed clumsy patch jobs and wallpaper repairs made with leftover pieces. The old-looking lamps had burn marks on their shades from incandescent bulbs that haven't been sold for years. The conference rooms were fine otherwise, but they weren't heated while it was snowing outside, so people kept going back to their rooms for coats. On the day the elevators broke, it was 20 degrees warmer outside. They brought in space heaters, but too late to help. There were other half-done details too, like motion-sensitive soap dispensers paired with ordinary knob faucets, which makes no sense. The facility clearly hasn't been maintained. I might come back if a future conference is held here, but I can't see myself staying here as a hotel guest again. It's too depressing.
