I’m not usually picky, but this place was unbelievably dirty. I arrived around midnight, pulled back the covers, and found dirty sheets and hair on the pillows. The floors looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in months, and I wouldn’t walk on them without shoes. After I complained, they did send someone to remake the bed with fresh linen, but that was at midnight. The price may have been right, but I should have paid more for a decent, clean room. The whole place was disgusting, and if I owned or managed this motel, I’d be embarrassed to rent rooms in that condition. Never again.

I checked in and back out within five minutes on July 2. The place smelled of bleach when I walked in, so I assumed it was clean, but the room had a filthy bed and roaches and reeked of mold. I told the front desk it was filthy and I couldn’t stay, and they said I’d get a refund in the next few days. I gave them extra time because it was a holiday weekend, but by nearly the end of August it still hadn’t arrived. Whenever I call, they say only the owner can issue it, but the owner is never there and nobody knows when they will be. Don’t bother staying. You’d be better off in your car.

The price is the best around, and the owner made sure my needs were met fully. The staff are great and personable. Whenever I’ve asked for something, they’ve either done it or helped me get it done. Five stars!

The real problem was the staff. They were rude and disrespectful from the moment I arrived and in every interaction after, however brief. They acted as though staying there was a privilege, even though I’d paid for it. The room itself was falling apart, the sheets had dried blood on them, and the beds were garbage. I’d sleep in my car if I had to. I wouldn’t come back even if someone paid me.

I booked two nights, but left after one. On the second floor, cheap air freshener hit me with a really strong smell. Room #215 was surprisingly clean, though the furniture looked like it came from the Salvation Army down the street. I noticed some unusual people hanging around, then a quick Google search showed me this place was mostly subsidized housing, something the locals apparently aren’t too happy about. A hollow wooden door connected my room to Room #213, and it seemed about as sturdy as cardboard. I could hear the neighbors cough, sneeze, fart, and do all sorts of other things. A couple had loud sex for an hour while I was trying to sleep, then came back for another round a few hours later. The second night, the TV screen died, although the remote still worked, so I watched sports on my laptop instead. Around 5 a.m., I got up to use the restroom quietly and heard a creepy gurgling sound from behind the door. I couldn’t tell what it was, but I wish I could unhear it. There’s a huge gap under that connecting door, big enough for a phone, camera, or other device to fit through. The streetlamp also shone through the gap under the curtains like it was in my room. I got about five hours of sleep each night with help from earplugs and alcohol, but woke up many times. Canton doesn’t have a great reputation, and this motel doesn’t help it. Maybe it should be turned into subsidized apartments. Stay somewhere else if you can. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you want an uncomfortable, sleep-deprived nightmare.
