The suite worked for us and felt like good value. It’s a nice room, though the hotel is showing its age, and the service was mixed. Some staff seemed uninterested, but Mr. Chang and Jason the bartender stood out in a good way. The paid garage was tight, and people parked in the special hybrid/ low emission spaces with SUVs, so we couldn’t use that perk. There’s no pool, despite the online photos. A fire alarm also went off during our stay because a frozen pipe lowered water pressure in the fire suppression system. We heard this reportedly happens every few weeks, and staff didn’t seem very concerned about its effect on guests.

The bugs and webs were still on the walls a full day after I first reported them. Michael at the front desk had written down my request for cleaning and said someone would handle it, but after four asks, nothing had been done. When I returned to the desk, they wanted to enter it in the same book again. I called twice; Michael said no manager was available and that he’d come up himself. He eventually arrived with a bucket of water and asked which walls needed cleaning. He said he didn’t have much time to look around because he was training two employees. I’ll have to wait until Monday to speak with a manager about getting the room properly cleaned. The lack of follow-up, cleanliness, and basic service has been extremely disappointing. Michael needs more support at the desk and better customer service training for situations like this.

The location worked well for our DC plans, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby and metro access about a mile away, though it isn’t walkable. It was an affordable option. We could always find a space in the paid third-party lot, even with my Honda Pilot, though it was tight. We had no safety issues, but it’s always important to stay aware. Our requested room upgrade was ready before check-in. The room was clean; they said it would be cleaned every other day, and it was skipped on just one day. Staff quickly helped with small requests for things like towels, soap, cups, and coffee. Breakfast had plenty of choices and was well stocked, including a unique, tasty burrito.

The pool was closed, which was the one downside. Otherwise, the spacious room, good breakfast, friendly staff, and Wednesday evening social hour made this an enjoyable stay. When I had a serious vehicle problem, Aaron and his team helped me work through it. The hotel is conveniently placed for the highway and the city, and I’ll stay here again next time I’m in DC.
