Oasis Hotel & Conv. Center, an Ascend Collection Hotel

After 12 hours on the road, we arrived without a reservation and asked for somewhere quiet so we could get a good night's sleep. The young man at the front desk was kind and accommodating, and found us a room at a very good price. It was clean and nice, the bed was extremely comfortable, and breakfast buffet was great. If we're back in Springfield, we'll stay here again.

The housekeeper was my favorite part of the stay. She greeted me each day with a bright smile and made me feel welcome. The hotel has a nostalgic Palm Beach sort of feel with a modern touch, and the lobby has a nice range of snacks, drinks, and other things for sale. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the hot water was the best I've ever had in a hotel. There was plenty of space for suitcases, plus a handy movable desk that worked for room service or as an extra table. I also liked the well-lit vanity outside the bathroom for doing makeup. Fire and Ice was great, so I ate there most evenings. I didn't get to the pool, though it looked amazing in the online pictures.

Linda, the lobby attendant, was friendly and very helpful, and the lobby smelled amazing. My room was super clean, and Jacob was awesome when I had a maintenance issue. I'll definitely stay here again.

The hallway reeked of W33d, which added to the feeling that the place was unsafe, especially for somewhere supposedly high-end. Check-in seemed fine at first, but once we unpacked, the shower had almost no pressure and was clogged. There was grime on the walls, a previous guest's hair tie in the shower, and a filthy office chair with food built up inside. The smoke alarm was dangling and looked melted. It made me wonder whether the sheets or blankets were changed. The beds had deep worn-out dips, there was no patio furniture, and the pool was closed. I've stayed in Motel 6 places for business at half the price that felt five-star by comparison. I'd save the money and book somewhere else, maybe in Branson. I was very disappointed. Whoever manages this place needs to be more proactive.
