Bliss By The Sea

We’ve stayed at Bliss By The Sea three times, and this last visit we got to enjoy the master suite. It has four bedrooms, a full building balcony view, and rooftop access. Caisley, our host, went above and beyond to make us feel accommodated. She was wonderful. It’s quiet and intimate, about 5 minutes from the beach and 15 minutes from historic downtown. My wife and I find it a unique experience, and absolutely worth a stay when visiting St. Augustine.

We left at 3 am and drove 2.5 hours home because the noise around us kept us awake until then. There was a swinger party that night, with people switching rooms and having loud sex for HOURS, plus constant screaming and banging from all around us. The whole place smelled like crap anyway, and there was mold all in the fridge. We were also told we’d have a different view, and the divider between the two rooms was broken, so there was no privacy on the balcony. When we explained how unhappy we were and asked for our money back, they never responded. My girlfriend and I were very disappointed. Save your money and go somewhere else.

The building and rooms are beautiful, the area is nice, and there’s quick access to a lot nearby. The staff were excellent and let us check in early. One night when we got back from dinner, our whole floor had an overwhelming weed/marijuana odor. It took a few hours to clear, but staff took care of it. This is a no smoking/no vaping facility. The other drawback was having no hot water at all in our room.

We’ve stayed at Bliss by the Sea several times and have loved it each time. It’s peaceful, romantic, and full of character, with a much nicer feel than a basic chain hotel. The beach access is just a few minutes away, and the historic district is 15-20 minutes away. This visit was room 12 on the top floor. It has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a lovely living room, kitchen, and dining area, plus a huge balcony with rooftop access. Such a gem. We’ll definitely be back.
