Hampton Inn St. Augustine-I-95

The spotless room had a very comfortable bed, and the hot breakfast was a lovely way to start Christmas morning. Staff were welcoming even though they were working on the holiday. We stayed at the Hampton Inn on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and the festive holiday decorations made the lobby feel cheerful as soon as we arrived. It was an ideal base for exploring St. Augustine, close enough to enjoy Nights of Lights in the Historic District without getting caught in the worst holiday traffic. Highly recommend for a stress-free Christmas in the nation’s oldest city.

The staff seemed friendly, but I can’t recommend this hotel unless it makes some major changes. The Hilton app calls it “Newly Renovated,” which didn’t match what I found. My room smelled strongly musty, and the bathroom was dirty, with a large hole in the wall that looked like someone had filled it with wet toilet paper. The box spring was stained, and the bed itself smelled horrible. I wasn’t happy with the stay.

The place was miserable, and I’ll never stay again. It was run down and smelled of mildew, the carpet stank, and there were ants in my berry Kellogg cereal. The housekeepers remade the beds, but the covers were dirty and one pillow had a blood stain. I also saw workers having people pull up to buy drugs. Breakfast was horrible: I watched the breakfast lady smoke and then go back into the kitchen without trying to wash her hands. The manager lets anything happen there and shouldn’t keep her position. I’ll be calling corporate next.

Housekeeping did a wonderful job, and customer service was excellent. I had a wonderful stay at the Hampton Inn on Beach Blvd. in St Augustine, FL. There was direct beach access, plus free breakfast and a beverage bar available all day.
