The Local - St. Augustine

It felt creepy to find nobody there, and I won't be staying again. There was no lobby check-in or greeting, and no keys or key cards handed over, though you could get coffee there. We didn't see a housekeeper or get fresh towels, yet there was a desk notice asking for a tip for housekeeping. A light outside our room lit up the whole space, and they seemed never to have heard of blackout shades. Maybe this is where hospitality is headed, but I don't like it.

The room was immaculate, and the pool and pool area were nice. Tacos across the street are AMAZING!!! It's a safe location, though it may be too far to walk from the historic district depending on the season and your health. There is NO FRONT DESK, and check-in is all handled by phone. They texted the instructions, and we got our key from the lockbox without any problems.

Update: check-in turned out to be an absolute nightmare, and I also learned the hotel had been bought by a large Orlando based timeshare company. The rooms had ratty, stained towels, USB ports that didn't work, and a shower with a swimming pool for ants. The fridge was the funniest part because it couldn't even be accessed. If you're just after Instagram photos and plan to sleep at home, maybe this is the place; if you need working amenities, try the chain across the street. At $200/night, I expected better service and communication. Before check-in, nobody from the "hotel" had contacted me. After emailing and sitting on hold, I learned the app had been down for a while. The "digital experience" felt like a digital nightmare, and I can't recommend the place because of the communication problems. I was due to complete my stay tomorrow, Dec 20, 2025. Content farm? Yes! Functional hotel? Lol.

The rooms were immaculately clean and decorated in a cute pink and flamingo theme. Check-in by text was easy, the lobby had coffee and tea available 24/7, and the wifi was solid. For a price comparable to a Motel 6, the accommodations were MUCH BETTER. It's a 23 min walk from downtown St. A, close enough to walk but far enough from the busy tourist area to get some rest. The motel was adorable and looked like it does online. I'd host an event by the pool and patio if the issues were fixed. There didn't seem to be any human staff on site. Our TV remote didn't work, and although I asked several times for a replacement and was told it was on its way, it never arrived, so we couldn't watch TV at night. The pool gate latch was broken, which meant anyone could walk in from the street. I also had to stock the coffee and tea bar in the morning because staff hadn't done it. Four stars, and I'd give five if those problems were resolved.
