Drury Plaza Hotel St. Louis St. Charles

We had a fun time in the heated indoor/outdoor pool, which stays open even in winter. It was in the teens outside, so the pool felt a little chilly, but was still usable. The hotel is also in a great spot for walking to restaurants and shops, with a movie theater nearby. Staff were attentive, and the food was about what I expected from a hotel like this. We came for a weekend staycation for my husband’s birthday. The room seemed clean, but it was quite dated and felt kind of icky. Updating the rooms would have made this a five-star stay.

The staff were friendly and attentive throughout, and I felt very well looked after. The pool and hot tub, both indoors and outdoors, were excellent for relaxing and stayed open quite late. Breakfast was included every day and was great. I was also surprised by the free drinks and appetizers at 5:30 each day. There were three drinks, and the food felt almost like a full meal, all at no extra charge. I’d be glad to return.

The staff were amazing. During our stay of less than 24 hours, they checked in with us so many times to see how things were going. They were slammed, but still took the time, and that meant a lot. I didn’t mention the cleanliness issue because they were so busy, and it wasn’t my priority. Still, finding a soda can and a mask plainly visible next to the bed puzzled me, since that doesn’t seem up to Drury’s standards. We’ve stayed at several Drury Inn and Suites locations in Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana, and we’ve liked this location on previous visits too. It’s handy for nearby restaurants and stores, with plenty to offer families and solo travelers. The Kick Backs food isn’t anything special, but it’s good as a perk. Our bed was comfortable, and the room had plenty of towels and blankets. Overall, it was a nice stay.

The staff were great, especially the front desk and reservations team. We had some check-in trouble because the elevators weren’t working, and the ladies carried our suitcases up the stairs to our floor. My husband waited in the lobby until the elevators were fixed. They offered us another Drury Inn, but we declined. Both the manager and GM were hands-on, and we saw them around dining hours. Our room was clean, though the corners of the shower floor needed bleach. We bought bleach spray and used it, even though we never walk barefoot in hotels. My husband is immunocompromised, and I felt the hotel was clean. Breakfast and dinner were free. It’s a good spot if you want to walk to nice restaurants and other places.
