Fairfield Inn & Suites St. Louis St. Charles

The A/C kept the room consistently cold during 100+ degree weather, and the price was reasonable. Staff were polite and friendly, and the location had plenty of nearby restaurants and delivery options. I'd still consider staying here again. The room had a musty smell as soon as I opened the door. I was on the first floor and got used to it enough that I didn't ask to move, though I don't know whether every room smells that way or the weather contributed. I also found a fairly large spider in the bathroom sink and a small roach in there the first night, then saw one more roach later. The room otherwise seemed clean. There were a few stains on the couch, but they weren't very noticeable. I spent three nights here on a small vacation, and the smell is the main thing I'd want them to address.

The coffee was very good, and Rosa Brown on the night shift was especially warm and welcoming whenever we saw her. My husband and I stayed June 10-12, with three days at the convention center, so the location was handy. Being next to Cracker Barrel, near I-70 and the historic district was a plus. Our room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. I'd recommend the place and stay again.

The breakfast and staff were great, but we're planning to stay somewhere else next time. The hotel needs updating: the fixtures and carpets looked at least 20 years old. There was just one elevator for the whole hotel, and the pool wasn't heated, which was a real bummer.

The area around the hotel felt quiet and safe, breakfast was standard, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I didn't find the place dirty, just really worn down, which wasn't what I expected from a Marriott. The room also had the musty odor another reviewer mentioned, and friends in a different room had rainwater leaking through their window. The pool was broken, though the website didn't mention that, and all the ice machines were out too. The vinyl on the breakfast-area seats was peeling and uncomfortable to sit on. There were no mattress pads, and the stretched sheets kept popping off all night. Bedroom furniture was very worn.
