The first impression was fine, but then the shower controls turned out to be backward, with hot giving cold and cold giving hot. The drain stayed full for about five minutes after I shut off the water. There was a little bug on my leg in the bathroom and a much bigger one crawling on the room walls. My phone wasn't plugged in at all, the TV kept turning itself off, and the beds were hard. They had been made, but there were stains all over the sheets, and the curtain was stained too.

The place was filthy, with dirt and other questionable stuff on the floors, walls, beds, and curtains. There was hair in the shower and the towels were dirty. No remote for the TV, and no fire alarm in the room. Both the vending machines and ice machine were out of order, and other guests were smoking in their rooms. Don't stay here.

New management has turned this place around from what used to be a rundown hotel. The rooms are quiet and clean, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Someone is always ready at the front desk to answer questions or get you what you need, whatever the hour. They greet you with a smile and even take the time to learn your name. A hidden gem in Fargo.

I moved back to Fargo and stayed for a week at the Bison on University Ave while waiting for my apartment to be ready. I got one of the newly remodeled rooms. The bathroom floor beside the shower wasn't level, which felt unsafe, but everything else was really good. Customer service and housekeeping were both awesome, and the price for all 7 days wasn't bad.
