Candlewood Suites St. Clairsville by IHG

The mall is just across the street, and you can walk to pretty much everything in the surrounding area. There’s also an outdoor pool for summer. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

My corporate reservation was confusing at check-in, and the desk showed little interest in sorting it out. Service felt poor unless you were part of the regular work crews staying there. The property seems geared toward long-term blue-collar workers, most of whom I met were respectful, but the place felt dominated by those groups. As someone outside them, I felt like an afterthought. The door in my room wouldn’t latch securely, and the shower had almost no pressure. I reported both, but neither was fixed. Hallways were loud, there was a constant smell of sweat and takeout, and the common areas felt like an employee breakroom. I wouldn’t choose it again. Maybe it works for a labor crew traveling together, but corporate travelers or anyone expecting basic hotel service and maintenance should look elsewhere.

The customer service was very nice, and the rooms felt luxurious. I didn’t get to try the pool since it was outdoors and it was winter.

Breakfast was delicious, and even around 8:15 there was still a full selection. The person working there was keeping the area very clean. The night desk woman was super nice, too. My room was very clean, there were extra towels, and it was quiet. The hotel smelled great and was conveniently just off the highway. I’d absolutely stay again.
