Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Oklahoma City Airport

The security guard assumed I wasn’t supposed to be there without checking first. He wrongly took me for an unhoused person looking for somewhere warm and a hot meal, and it bothered me. It was single-digit weather, so even if I had been, a little compassion and five or ten minutes of warmth shouldn’t have been a problem. The front desk and housekeeping staff were at least polite, if not especially pleasant. Aside from that, it was a fantastic stay, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The room itself was the only remotely decent part, and even that wasn’t worth the risk. I asked to see camera footage after my wallet went missing, but staff gave me an excuse that no one had stepped off the elevator for two hours. This is a hotel where people are constantly coming and going; the explanation made no sense and felt like a lie. I hadn’t requested cleaning, yet someone entered my room without permission, and the wallet disappeared right after. Staff seemed annoyed and dismissive instead of trying to help. There was no urgency, accountability, or concern about something being stolen on the property. The location is terrible, the stay was unpleasant, and the customer service was some of the rudest I’ve dealt with. I’ll never stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

We booked three nights, but on the first night our room had no electricity. They moved us, and in the new room the shower pressure didn’t work. When we came back later, there was human feces outside our door. Staff said they’d clean it up, but after we’d been gone for six hours, it was still there. We asked for a refund and were told to wait until a manager was in. Absolutely disgusting and ridiculous. There were also homeless people hanging out inside the hotel.

The breakfast is excellent, the rooms are very clean, and I like that I can watch YouTube on the TV. I decided to stay here for the rest of my nursing contract, though I have some complaints about housekeeping. I work nights and need to sleep during the day, but the housekeepers were singing, talking, and laughing really loudly. I called the front desk, and they got even louder. On my last night, one housekeeper called me dirty in Spanish, thinking I didn’t understand. I understand Spanish very well, boo. I’ve also learned that the mattresses aren’t all the same. The one in the room I got the second time wasn’t comfortable, and the shower pressure was weak, more like a sprinkle.
