Hampton Inn & Suites St. Clairsville

There are plenty of hotels around here, but this location keeps exceeding expectations. Darian at check-in is consistently polite, professional, and accommodating when I have requests. He represents the company extremely well and deserves recognition. Great location and service throughout. I always have a great stay here.

We had a family emergency and needed to add another night. Everyone at this Hampton was incredibly kind and caring, especially Tracey, who felt like family by the time we left. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfy, and there’s a movie theater, arcade, and mall within 500 feet. The staff’s care was unmatched.

We came for Thanksgiving to visit family with our two young kids, but the pool was closed because of a key card problem. We were told only the manager could fix it, and the manager wasn’t available for the holiday. The thermostat also wouldn’t regulate the heat, so the room was either freezing or too hot. Maintenance was on vacation, so that couldn’t be fixed either. Staff were rude when we asked about the problems. We were told, “What do you want us to do about it, it’s a holiday weekend, go back to your room.” At 9:00 AM, my wife couldn’t get coffee at breakfast because they said they weren’t making any more, even though breakfast runs until 10. Another holiday weekend excuse, I guess. After we called corporate, they refunded half the cost of our stay. We won’t stay here again when visiting family.

The room itself was really nice, and this was the first time I’ve had a problem with the pool here. On previous stays I could use it. This time, though, I’d booked specifically for the pool and found it closed. I could’ve stayed at another hotel for $100 less if I’d known. Since no one had told me about the closure, I complained at the desk and got a lower rate.
