Econo Lodge Madison East

We left about an hour after dropping our things in the room to go to dinner, because we didn't feel safe or clean enough to spend the night. The woman at the desk didn't ask why we were checking out so quickly, which struck me as odd. Check-in staff had been friendly, and the lot entrance was difficult to find in the dark. Booking sites rated it well, but you get what you pay for. Try it at your own risk.

OCT 2025, my second stay. They apparently don't read the reviews, because the AC filter looked furry again, and there was food in the fridge that smelled awful. During a Home Badger game, though, this was the BEST price around. The room's maintenance still needs work.

You're right off the freeway and near restaurants and shops. The room was clean and well stocked, and the staff were friendly and nice.

I got through the night, and for $55 this was a workable stop if you're in a pinch. It's a two star place off the highway, with very dated rooms that were at least clean and nice. It cost a third of what any other area hotel did. I wouldn't choose to stay again, but if you need a bed for one night, it's doable.
