Chalet Motel

They’ve put a lot of work into renovating this place, and it looks beautiful. My room was very clean and had a fridge, microwave, stovetop, coffee maker, nice-smelling personal items, a TV, and fast internet. The manager was very accommodating. I’ll definitely come back when my travels bring me this way again.

The service was stellar, and the downtown St. George location is excellent. The motel is very clean, and the white-sock test on the carpet passed. The rooms have been updated, though the tub and carpet still need attention, and the carpet is old. It took a little while for the water to get warm, and the heating and air conditioning system is noisy. For the price, though, it’s a very good deal.

I stayed here for a dance competition with my two daughters and my mom. The room was decent and spacious, but I had a horrible experience with the manager. My 9-year-old got sick in the night and made it to the bathroom, but the toilet lid was closed, so she threw up on the towels by the shower. I spent over an hour cleaning up. We used lemon essential oils and a diffuser, then left the towels in a bag outside the room until morning. At 8am, while I was still asleep, I woke to a nasty email and voicemail saying I’d be charged $200 because one towel had to be thrown away. I went to the laundry room to explain, and she yelled at me and told me to get out of her motel. When I asked for the owner’s name, she refused and kept trying to kick me out. Other employees confirmed this was pretty standard behavior from Christeen, the manager.

I can’t recommend staying here. I’ve never experienced worse customer service. The woman who texted my wife about our reservation was rude and threatening, had poor grammar, and yelled at us when we called. Nobody should be treated that way. Because of the storm, we didn’t want to risk coming on the first day. We told her in advance, but she said our reservation had been cancelled. Expedia confirmed it was still active, so I don’t know where she got that information. I’m extremely frustrated. Looking at other reviews, my wife and I don’t seem to be the only ones dealing with poor management at this place. I can’t understand why she’s still working there. I hope the reviews are taken seriously and she’s held accountable. I’m not confrontational or threatening, but the way we were treated was truly despicable and inappropriate.
