TownePlace Suites by Marriott St. George

The location works really well for city events, with food and shopping nearby. I’ve stayed at this Marriot a few times, and the staff have been amazing each visit. The rooms are kept in good shape, and breakfast was decent. During my last stay the pool was closed for maintenance, but I could use the hot tub at the hotel next door. The woman looking after the breakfast area was especially kind and helped me find food for my son. I stay at Marriot hotels all over the country pretty often, and this is a great place to stay in the area.

The kitchen makes family meals easy, and having grills, laundry, and outdoor areas gives everyone room to spread out when we're getting on each other's nerves. We’ve stayed at this TownPlace Suites property several times over the past few months, and it’s been a great experience for our family. The staff make it feel welcoming. Jewel and Katie at check-in are lively and fun, Max is patient and accommodating, and Druide (sp?) stays cheerful even with four impatient kids around. Chewy at breakfast is so caring and keeps everyone fed; she reminds me of my grandma. I can’t remember all the other great staff names, sorry! They also keep sugar-free syrup on hand, which means my Type 1 Diabetic son can have waffles with the rest of us. He loves that, since almost every other property doesn’t offer it. We highly recommend staying here and will absolutely be back. 5/5.

The parking situation was a mess once the hotel filled up. The attendant basically told us we were on our own to find a spot. Breakfast was my biggest issue too: the area is so cramped that people were shoulder to shoulder waiting to make waffles. The room was clean and everything worked, but there wasn’t enough bedding for the sofa bed, and the TV was stuck at an awkward angle with no way to turn on closed captions. We expected a better stay for the money. There are better options nearby, and we won’t be coming back.

The front desk staff were really friendly and accommodating. When I asked to switch rooms because of the awful smell, the employee was polite and moved me without question. I appreciated how professionally they handled what must have sounded like a strange request. Unfortunately, the second room smelled too, like a mix of musk and curry. I can only assume the whole hotel has that disgusting smell. I was passing through during a medical conference, so rooms were scarce. I seriously thought about driving on, but it seemed safer to rest and head out in the morning. Marriott should be ashamed to put its name on this place. I’ve never had this kind of experience at a REAL Marriott. If you have another option, stay somewhere else.
