Alila Napa Valley, a Hyatt Luxury Resort

We loved winding down by the pool at sunset, with a fire nearby, and the patio balcony tub with the fireplace on made the evening feel cozy and romantic. The whole property was peaceful and beautiful, and our spotless, comfortable room had a luxurious feel without being too much. The staff were welcoming and attentive all the way through our anniversary stay. It was an amazing Napa getaway, and we’d absolutely come back.

We came for our engagement week and really enjoyed it. The staff were attentive and so nice, and made us feel special. Our spacious room had a creek view and an outdoor tub, though it was too hot that week for us to use it. The location made it easy to explore both up and down the valley, and the free shuttle into St Helena was handy. The valet team, who also drove the shuttle, were great. Having to use mandatory valet every time we wanted to get in or out of the car was a real pain, though they at least tried to make it easier with texting. We had breakfast most days, but didn’t try the other food or the spa, which looked great. We picked the place for its Central Valley location and upscale setting.

The location is handy if you want to eat out in St Helena, and the hotel itself is quiet and peaceful, good for some R&R. I’ve stayed twice and chose a vineyard view both times. The scenery and balcony firepit are a real plus. This last visit had some pretty unpleasant problems. The outside of the toilet bowl had residue on arrival, which housekeeping cleaned after I asked, but it made a terrible first impression. Also, the soaking tub drain cover didn’t work, so I had to skip the bath I’d been looking forward to. Bellman and valet service were great. I didn’t get enough experience with the dining or poolside service to comment. It might be worth using points in low season, but for the price I’m reluctant to recommend it. Compared with other Hyatt Category 8 properties, there’s room to improve.

We celebrated our anniversary in a vineyard-facing room, where the balcony fire pit made the chilly night feel romantic. The hotel is in a beautiful spot beside Beringer winery, and the shuttle can take you into downtown St Helena or to nearby wineries. 💙
