Bayside Inn

We were lucky to find a room after booking at the last minute on July 4. Room 109 was a two-queen room with a fridge, Keurig coffee maker, and microwave. It had recently been renovated, and the beds were comfortable with plenty of blankets and pillows. The shower pressure was great, too. There's an industrial ice machine that can fill coolers, which was really handy. The seating area overlooks the water, just across the street, and the hotel is right across from the ferry. I'd stay again.

Our stay in room #20 was no good. Just before bed, we spotted bed bugs, which really grossed us out. We didn't contact the front desk because after seeing them we didn't want another room. Instead, we rented a cheaper, much cleaner room at cabins of Mackinac. We stopped by the next morning to report it. The front desk clerk apologized, but that was all, not even a partial refund. I don't recommend this place.

The outside looked fine, but inside was a letdown. The room was only okay, and the AC didn't work properly, leaving it humid and uncomfortable. The bathroom flush was extremely loud, and there was no breakfast. At $250, it was far too expensive for what we got. A very disappointing stay, and I wouldn't recommend it even for one night.

The rooms were clean, and the bathroom had been newly remodeled, though the furniture was still older. Staff were friendly and managed to accommodate an extra night when I asked at the last minute. There isn't much in the way of amenities, but it's a good spot for a weekend stay.
