The room was at the back by the dumpster, and I felt unsafe as soon as I saw the damaged door. Its frame was broken, the metal plate looked hammered, and a bump from my hip was enough to make it swing open. The windows had been boarded over. Inside, it smelled strongly of urine; tiles had fallen from the baseboard, the bedding was stained and burned, and the shower was missing one of its two knobs. We paid $79 for two nights, but taxes brought it to $96.50, then there was an unexplained $2-per-night charge and a $5 key deposit, for $106.50 total. The room was nothing like the website. I asked for another room, but the owner only tried to fix the door flap and offered to replace the knob. They said they were fully booked. I wouldn't stay there with a broken door frame as a woman visiting from out of town, so I asked for a refund. They gave us only part of it, saying we had spent time there. We had bought lunch before check-in and stayed on site for two hours, first eating and deciding what to do, then trying to get out of that awful place. Stay far away.

The owners were pleasant, and the hotel was reasonably clean. But over all four nights, we found several big roaches in both the bathroom and bedroom, some dead and some alive. It was very cheap, so I guess we got what we paid for.

The room wasn't ready at the stated 2 pm check-in, and I waited until 4:45. My cab had already dropped me off, and with nowhere to leave my luggage, I had to carry it around while looking for somewhere to get a drink. Even checkout was a nuisance because I had to wake the front desk person. The room had mold in the shower and on the curtain, worn bargain sheets, and furniture missing drawers or handles. I booked a king but got a double. There was barely enough toilet paper for the night, though I left by 7:30 am. The smoking room had no ashtray, either. I also had to ask for my $5 cash key deposit back, despite paying by credit card, and the total was $20 above the quote because of fees. The pool was unavailable, and the only nearby food option was an eegees. They saw me get out of a cab but kept asking if I had extra people or pets, and said I couldn't have any visitor, not even my brother. The whole place felt depressing. I wouldn't recommend it or send anyone there, however desperate they were.

The bathroom door in room #35 opened on its own, and I spent the night chilled and waiting for morning. The room felt HAUNTED. Saving $5 simply wasn't worth it. The place was so filthy that even someone used to rough hotels, including traveling in India without complaint, would be shocked. There was no curtain, just old blinds visible from outside; the pillow sheets were dirtier than my underwear, crumbs were on the bed, and the towels were brown. They'd sprayed air freshener on the pillows, and the shower had mold. They also charged an extra $2 that wasn't mentioned before booking. Pay $5 more and stay at red roof a few miles away. DISGUSTING is putting it mildly. Stay away!

The room was compact but cozy, and the pool was clean and comfortable. It was only moderately maintained, but still a great break from Tucson's baking heat. The buildings looked nice and suited the feel of the city. Management was compassionate about how exhausted we were from traveling and went out of their way to help us. Everyone was very friendly. It's not a posh five-star hotel, but if you want a comfortable, welcoming place in Tucson, this works well.
