Quality Inn Lakefront

I was at home on my couch drinking coffee at 9 in the morning, and my day was fine until I spoke with a rude reservation agent and then Denise. Calling the property, I felt like an inconvenience. I had straightforward questions about the room and property, and got a snarky response. I'd read complaints about cleanliness, bugs, and shower mold, but wanted to judge for myself. When I raised those concerns, the agent said, “Oh, ok, I'll go ahead and cancel your reservation.” I told her repeatedly not to cancel it. I asked for my confirmation number, but she said she didn't have it and that I'd need to wait for an email. When it arrived, the total was much higher than the amount she'd quoted by phone. I pointed that out, and she replied, “I didn't charge your card anything!” I said I knew that, and explained again that the confirmation total didn't match the phone quote. She said she'd given me the room rate, before taxes and fees. That made no sense to me: she shouldn't have quoted $119 when the total would be almost $140. She asked again if she should cancel, and I again said no. A little later, someone who said she was the hotel manager called and refused to give me her name. She told me she'd cancelled my reservation because I'd “disrespected her property and her employees, and threatened to leave a bad review.” I hadn't done either. Her actions made sure she got the review anyway. I contacted corporate customer service. They told me Denise had violated company policy by cancelling before informing me she was going to do it, and that both regional management and the hotel ownership would hear from them. I doubt the property will stay at two stars on Maps for long, and wouldn't be surprised if a one star rating comes soon. I'd look elsewhere. The management reply blamed me for having a bad day, with no accountability. I wasn't having a bad day before those calls. Classic deflection from rude or incompetent people. Best to you, Denise.

We stayed one night while traveling between destinations. The location is good, and the price was better than others in the area. We checked in a few hours late after returning from the island, without any trouble, and check-in itself went smoothly. I told the hotel about the problems when checking out. They apologized and said they'd look into it. Unfortunately, we found several cleanliness issues as the evening and morning went on. The carpet between the tub and fridge was soaked, perhaps because of a plumbing issue with the tub. There was broken glass under the dining table, dried poop visible on the back of the toilet seat without lifting it, and a used washcloth hanging on the shower curtain rod that fell when we opened the curtain. It left me uneasy about whether the room had been cleaned thoroughly. Everything else seemed fine, and I like the location, but I'm not sure I'd book here again. We didn't use the pool, so I can't comment on that. I can provide my email, reservation number, or phone number if someone wants to discuss it.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and this place is a great value. A balcony room lets you hear the waves on the shore at night and see the moon over the lake, then wake up to a spectacular sunrise. I'd have no hesitation about staying here.

The lakefront views were wonderful, and our room was comfortable and clean. The pool area looked clean too. It was quiet and felt safe, so I'd recommend staying here.
