Holiday Inn Express Detroit-Warren by IHG

I was in Detroit for work with my boyfriend, and I’d feel safe staying here alone another time. We had a simple breakfast with a bit of everything and enjoyed it. The lobby was clean and quiet, with a handy area to buy things, and there were no rowdy or loud guests on Monday night. I don’t know how busy it gets on weekends. The parking lot was spacious and felt safe, though it’s shared with the hotel across the way. Our room was above average, with plenty of space for bags, a desk, and seating. I liked the TV too, it responded quickly and had good channel choices. Thanks, Holiday Inn!

The area around the hotel didn’t seem very friendly, but I felt safe once inside. The room was quiet, other guests were polite, and it had plenty of supplies like soap and shampoo. The mini fridge was useful, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was delicious.

We ended up going elsewhere after a frustrating check-in. A technical problem on the hotel’s side meant our additional guest wasn’t showing on the booking, so we couldn’t check in. We showed emails and other proof, but the customer service representative didn’t seem to care and was rude to everyone on our staff from the moment we arrived. The front desk clerk was disrespectful, sassy, and unhelpful right from the start, even snapping at one of our female players when she politely asked why it was taking so long. Then he told his supervisor we had been rude to him, and our reservation was cancelled on the spot.

The hallways are extremely dim, and the rooms are tiny, with fixtures already damaged. There wasn’t even any Kleenex, and the chair had visible stains and looked very uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you need somewhere at the last minute for one night.
