Springhill Suites Minneapolis St Louis Park by Marriott

The pool area was nice, and both the pool and whirlpool were at good temperatures. Breakfast was a bit lacking but did the job. I thought charging for parking in the attached lot was ridiculous, just nickel and diming. The place is a little shabby and could use updates, and the walls are thin. We heard people in the hall and the couple upstairs putting on a late night "show." We weren't sure whether to call the front desk or go up and high five them afterward. I'm glad we didn't have young kids to explain it to. It's not a quiet place, so you may not sleep well if you go to bed early or like to sleep in.

My husband and I came for our first wedding anniversary. Check-in was lovely, and the person who helped us was kind and exceptional. The stay was generally good, but at checkout the "front desk supervisor" was rude, frantic, and unpleasant to deal with. That left a bad taste in my mouth.

The complimentary breakfast was great and had plenty of choices. Our suite was clean and modern, with an odd but usable layout for what we needed, a place to sleep. The TV was very small for watching from both "rooms." On the first morning, we got locked out and waited 30 minutes for the key reader to be fixed. We nearly missed the appointment we'd traveled for. Lesson learned: don't leave the room without all your things.

The public areas were clean, and the small pool was fine. The room was dated and very tight, but worked well enough for one night. For two nights, I would have asked to switch rooms. The bathroom had broken tiles that looked like they had let water damage build up over time. One of the two shower vents was dirty and the other was clean. The room was dingy. The people behind the counter looked like they might not work there, or maybe they just weren't in uniform. Employees used their phones a lot behind the counter, but they were attentive.
